Perfluorotetradecanoic Acid (PFTeDA)
Perfluorotetradecanoic acid (PFTeDA), also called PFTeDA or C14, is a very long-chain PFAS carboxylate included in UCMR5 monitoring. It is rarely detected in drinking water but is included in monitoring to provide a comprehensive picture of PFAS contamination. When detected, it is typically found near fluoropolymer manufacturing sites. Its long chain length makes it extremely persistent and bioaccumulative. Limited toxicological data exists for PFTeDA, but its structural similarity to other long-chain PFAS suggests comparable health risks.
