Perfluorododecanoic Acid (PFDO)
Perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDO), also known as PFDoDA or C12, is a 12-carbon PFAS carboxylate monitored under UCMR5. It is primarily detected near fluoropolymer manufacturing facilities. Due to its long carbon chain, PFDO has very high bioaccumulation potential. Detection in drinking water is relatively uncommon compared to shorter-chain PFAS, but when found, levels can indicate proximity to significant industrial sources. PFDO is part of the broader UCMR5 monitoring program to characterize the full scope of PFAS contamination in US drinking water.
