Perfluoro(2-methyl-3-oxahexanoic) Acid (PBTF) (PBTF)
PBTF (perfluoro(2-methyl-3-oxahexanoic) acid) is a short-chain fluorinated ether carboxylic acid included in UCMR5 monitoring. It is one of several next-generation PFAS compounds being tracked to understand the scope of contamination from newer fluorochemical replacements. PBTF's short chain length makes it highly water-soluble and mobile in groundwater, similar to PFBA and PFBS. While it may be less bioaccumulative than long-chain PFAS, its mobility can lead to widespread contamination of water supplies far from source facilities.
